Terms of Use
Last updated 3 November 2026
These terms govern your use of 2026.where-were.at, the results of an annual community survey of the AT Protocol ecosystem run by Louis Escher. Using the site means you accept them. The privacy policy describes what happens to your data and forms part of these terms.
What the survey is
Where We're At asks the people who build on the AT Protocol what they use, what they run and what they think. It is free, it is independent, and it is run by one person as a community project with no affiliation to Bluesky PBC or to any project it asks about.
The 2026 survey closed on 1 November 2026. Its results are published on this site as an aggregate report and as an anonymized row-level dataset. The dataset contains only finished responses whose author consented to it, and it contains no free-text prose.
Who could take part
Taking part needed an AT Protocol account and a minimum age of 16. One person got one response per edition, which the sign-in enforced by account.
What you agree not to do
You agree not to place a load on the site that interferes with other people using it.
Responses that look coordinated can be excluded from the published results. Exclusion is recorded with a reason and does not delete anything, so a decision can be reviewed.
What you give permission for
By submitting answers you permit their publication in aggregate form, which is the whole point of the survey. Free-text comments may be quoted in the report as you wrote them, after a moderation pass, and a comment box left empty is never quoted.
Publication in the open dataset happened only if you ticked the consent box on the submit page. That consent was separate from taking part, and declining it changed nothing about your response.
You keep every right you have in what you write. The permission granted here is non-exclusive, worldwide and free of charge, limited to publishing and archiving the survey results, and it survives for the published editions because a report from 2027 cannot be unpublished in 2031.
The published material
The report, the charts and the dataset are published for anyone to read, cite and build on. The survey questions, the code and the curated entity lists are open source in the project's repository under the licence stated there.
Withdrawing
Request deletion of your response at any time by writing to [email protected]. Aggregate figures already published stay published, because they identify nobody.
Availability
The site is offered as it is, with no promise that it is reachable at any given moment and no guarantee that a particular edition runs.
Liability
The operator is liable without limit for damages caused intentionally or through gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence, liability exists only where a duty essential to the purpose of these terms is breached, and is then limited to the damage typical for this kind of agreement and foreseeable at the time. Liability under the German Product Liability Act is unaffected. Any further liability is excluded.
Links to other projects, apps and documentation point at content the operator does not control and is not responsible for.
Changes to these terms
These terms change when the project changes. The date at the top says when they were last revised and the full history is in the public repository. Continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised version, and a change that materially affects responses already submitted is announced on the site before it takes effect.
Applicable law
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence continue to apply in full.
Severability
If one provision here turns out to be invalid, the rest stays in force, and the invalid provision is read as the valid rule that comes closest to its purpose.
